The organisers of the 2020 Burradise Festival at Culburra Beach have been working hard to find a way forward during the COVID-19 pandemic so the annual beachside creative festival can proceed next month.
However, Chair and event director Alex McNeilly today announced the inevitable: “We feel that under the current COVID-19 event restrictions and risks to our community we have no choice but to postpone the Burradise Festival at Culburra Beach until 2021. It is very important to our board and committee as well as all of our wonderful volunteers that we protect our Culburra Beach community and village during this COVID-19 pandemic”.
McNeilly also said that the Burradise Festival organisation had moved the major weekend event to September this year in the hope of launching several new creative elements to the festival program. The new festival events include an outdoor cultural short-film film festival, photography competition, health and yoga programs plus a collective arts and regional makers market. The new events combined with our multicultural food fair extravaganza, three days and nights of live original music, skate boarding jam events, the annual Surf Bash surfing tournament by the Culburra Beach Boardriders Club and the many free fun activities for kids, families and visitors. The Burradise Festival at Culburra Beach is now happening in 2021 between September 24 and 26. We hope everyone can start planning and book accommodation to join us in the New Year.
The Love Culburra Beach Inc board and volunteer committee are now working on hosting their 2nd annual Culburra Beach Christmas Fair, planned for Friday 11th December 2020, with live on-stage carols and entertainment.
“After hundreds of locals turned up last year, we want to host a fantastic Christmas event that brings our community together, helps us all to look forward and to celebrate the upcoming festive season and summer holidays. It has been a very difficult and challenging year for all of us, so lock the date in your diary and come join us. It will be fantastic to have everyone here together to sing, shop, eat and socialise with family, friends and neighbours.
